Hi, I'm Steve Crowhurst, and let me welcome you to my website once more. The name TOZAI, when written in Japanese kanji, means, East/West. The word was conjured up by my wife Kimiko to name our gardens - usually a mixture of Japanese and western plants. When Kimiko passed away in 2024, I decided to open a studio in my house and use the Tozai name in Kimiko's honour.
I started sketching around the age of eleven. Pencil and pen and ink were my first loves. Today my works are multi media from acrylic to ink to pencil, to large Japanese brushes, pastel, embossing in paper and tin, and now digital art. Originals are on musuem quality paper and canvas. For art prints I use an Epson 15000 printer and museum quality inkjet paper. My digital art can start from one of my photographs that I use as a foundational sketch, then uploaded to Procreate to manipulate the image and from there finalize the image in Photoshop Elements or one of many art apps I subscibe to. Some images are created through AI channels and based on my description of what I want AI to produce. I then manipulate the AI image by removing the background, adjusting the main artwork, paint in a background and foreground and then, as desired, finalize the image in Photoshop or the art apps already mentioned. No matter what art form you purchase, each final work is an original and produced by myself. I do not sell the master digital/photographic files or copyright. |
